Bitter almonds

So, here it comes, another Ceci’s books post.
I know I didn’t do it last week, but here I am.
So, this week’s book is….
Love in the time of cholera.
This book was published in 1985 (translated by Alfred A Knop) an as Marquez states his book .
I can totally understand why the author refers to this book as “his book”, I think it shows Marquez’s true personality.
This wonderful book written by Garcia Marquez (can you say I adore him?), takes place in Cartagena de Indias, a Colombian town.
Following the story of three really intresting people:
Juvenal Urbino, marryed with Fermina Daza, an Florentino Arrisa a really intresting character an a triangle’s third side.
It starts with one of doctor Urvino’s patient’s death in that unfortunate day, when more than one family will cry, an a parot will fly.
It begins like this:
“It was inevitable: the scent of bitter almonds always reminded him of the fate of unrequited love.”
An I’m gonna post the beginning in Spanish cause this book was originally written in Spanish.
Era inevitable: el olor de las almendras amargas le recordaba siempre el destino
de los amores contrariados

There you have it, a beautiful start to a marvelous book.
As I said before, Marquez has a wonderful way of beginning stories.
Why, why, bitter almonds??
Oh yes, an you can download the book
Here
Hope you liked this Ceci’s books post, an I hope you read this book.

Why, them?

Hi readers, so here are some “ I think” last minut news:
Yesterday, in france, at a juish school “Ozar Hatora”, four people where killed.
A man got incide this school, an started shootting like mad.
Four people where killed, three children an an adult.
there was no apparent reason to commit this cryme.
The murderer hasn’t been captured yet, but police hope to find him soon.
The only explicable reason they must had to commit this cryme,
They where jouish.
I think its really sad the stuff some people do just because of others religion, color, origin, or even sex.
There’s not much imformation about this horrible event.

The blind one.

So, a few minuts ago, I took a break from school work, an decided to search for my name's meaning.
My name is Cecilia, an according to many pages, my name means:
The blind one.
Isn't that curious?
An the creepiest thing, is that when my parents named me, they didn't know I was blind.
They discovered it when I was 6 months or so.

The blind one.

Ceci's books

I decided to do this at least once a week, it will be called, “Ceci’s books”
An our first book is:

One hundred years of solitud.
Written by Gabriel Garcia marquez, an published in 1970.
Born in Colombia, march 6 1927.
This magical realistic man, is the author of many wonderful novels, an between those, one hundred years of solitude.
This story takes place in an imaginary remote Colombian town, named Macondo.
According to Garcia Marquez, this town an name where inspired when one day, traveling by train to return to Colombia, he passed a townless station, an near it, there was a poster announcing a banana company named Macondo.
The story talks about the Buen Dia family, beginning with Jose Arcadio Buendia, Macondo’s founder with some other men.
Then it goes to his suns, Aureliano an Jose arcadio Buen dia.
An the sons grandsons, in a twist of couples, lies, love, loneliness, an lost dreams an hopes.
The story starts like this:

MANY YEARS LATER as he faced the firing squad, Colonel Aureliano Buenda was to remember that distant afternoon when his father took him to discover ice. At that time Macondo was a village of twenty adobe houses, built on the bank of a river of clear water that ran along a bed of polished stones, which were white and enormous, like prehistoric eggs. The world was so recent that many things lacked names, and in order to indicate them it was necessary to point. Every year during the month of March a family of ragged gypsies would set up their tents near the village…
As you can see, the story traps you from the beginning, the context in witch it takes place, is great, an how this author decided to beggin his story, an not with the usual "once upon a time".
Had you ever seen a story startting by the middle??This book won the nobel Prize in Literature.
If you’re intrested, you can read it here:
One hundred years of solitude

In case you haven’t noticed it:
Happy birthday my dear Gabriel Garcia Marquez!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hunger games.

Hi readers!
I thought it a good idea to make a review about the hunger book, book number one of the series, the hunger games by Suzanne Collins.
After a Civil ward, the U.S has been divided into a capital an 12 districts.
The mane character, Katniss Everdeen, leaves on disctrict 12, the poorest of them all.
Each year, the capital (panam), selebrates the hunger games.
In this games, a boy an girl tribute from eatch district, are chosen, to be dumpt into an irina, an fight to death, while the whole country watches.
Catniss Everdeen, has to sustain her mother an little sister Prim, after her father died on a mine accident.
Everyday, she goes to the woods (witch is prohivited), an hunts with her best friend Gale.
The day of the reaping, Prim, Katniss' younger, sweet, an inosent sister, is chosen to fight for district twelve.
That twelved year old girl, fighting against other 23 tributes.
Katniss can't permit it, so she voluntteers to take Prim's place, all though she knows she hasn't got a chance.
The first book is a really fun book, think its a teens book, but I really enjoyed it.
Has any of you read it?
